When someone calls aren't they soppose to talk to you?

My friends called and would be talking to each other but not me. Isn't a phone made for talking? I don't know I'm confused. Well that's what I think. When somone calls you they call you to tlak right? That's my reason,I won't call my friends if I have a friend over. It's just not right. That's my case so I rust it!
