Safety doesn't always come in numbers

Do you know the old saying, safety comes in numbers? Well it doesn't! At school my friend and I got cornered to a fence. Amber came up with her posse. I think she is afraid to stick up to me alone! My friend and I got called names like : retard, stupid, dumb, and so on. In class they were giggling.

Ug! Those girls are so mean, Audrey! Don't listen to them. I know it is hurtful, but just know that you are NONE of those ugly names. You are exactly right... that girl wouldn't treat you like that by herself. People always act differently in front of their friends. I hope she gets into trouble. We love you though!

It's Gladys again...

I think safety in numbers only works when YOUR numbers are higher than THEIR numbers. If there had been 27 Aubrees and only three Ambers, you'd have had no trouble at all. You're right--she IS afraid to stick up to you alone. People like that are only strong when they've got their whole posse with them.

Uncle Scott again, Aubree.

Bullies are usually cowards, and the good thing is that the fact they think they need a gang to confront you means that they respect you.

Love ya baby!

I've been right where you are, Aubree. Back in high school, there were all these really "popular" people who thought they could insult, harass and intimidate my little crowd. I still remember the first time we stood up to them...we were the "smart crowd, and laid into them with insults of our own (which they didn't really understand) but boy did it make them mad. They hardly ever bothered us again. I'm not suggesting you call this girl names or anything, but just don't let it get to you. Bullies like that are secretly afraid. One day they'll figure out that being mean only loses them friends!!! Keep writing about it! It looks like you're getting some good feedback.
